First Visit

Your first visit will last approximately 1 ½ hour and includes an initial consultation, as well as a first treatment. First visits for Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation treatments will last 2 hours.

During the initial consultation Rebecca will evaluate your health according to Traditional Chinese Medicine through the use of the Four Examinations:

Looking at the tongue, overall complexion and affected area
Listening to the tone of voice, health information given and any cough if present
Asking about overall health history as well as history of current complaint
Touching the radial pulse on both wrists and palpating certain channels or points

 

With the information gathered Rebecca will formulate a Chinese Medical diagnosis and treatment plan which may include acupuncture and herbal formulas, as well as diet and/or lifestyle modifications.

Your first treatment immediately follows this initial consultation during which several fine needles are gently inserted into carefully selected points and retained for 20-30 minutes while you lie on a warm massage table with relaxing music. Only sterile, disposable needles are used.
How Best to Prepare

It’s a good idea to arrive 10-15 minutes early for your first appointment to fill out necessary paperwork. To save time, you may download the forms here and fill them out before your appointment.

You should eat before your acupuncture treatment and wear comfortable clothes. It is often not necessary to undress for an acupuncture treatment, especially if you wear loose fitting clothes.

Please refrain from vigorous exercise for at least 2 hours before and after a treatment.

If you regularly brush or scrape your tongue, please do not do so on the day of your appointment, as the tongue coating is an important diagnostic tool in TCM.
Follow-up Visits

Follow-up visits generally last 1 hour and include a shorter intake before the treatment to determine what may or may not have changed since the last visit.

Micro-current facial rejuvenation treatment: $125

Insurance

While acupuncture is increasingly included as a benefit with many insurance carriers, insurance coverage varies from plan to plan. It’s best to provide your insurance information prior to your first visit so the benefits of your specific plan can be verified.

 

Rebecca Cates is an out-of-network provider for most PPO insurance plans, and is not a member of any HMO (including American Specialty Health).

 

A receipt can be provided to document your treatments for your flexible spending plans.

 

New Worker’s Comp patients are being accepted with a pre-approved prescription from the primary MD for acupuncture treatments.
